Myth of the West ~ Trunk Show

EMPRESS VINTAGE PRESENTS ONE OF A KIND TRUNK SHOW BY MYTH OF THE WEST.  Ailee John and Leah Chapman, creators of new knitwear brand Myth of the West, have launched their first Spring/Summer 2014 collection. This debut collection, inspired by salt flats, features one of a kind clothing and accessories in yarns such as silk, alpaca, wool and other luxury blends. Silhouettes are classic and simple with tasteful updates such as flattering cut outs. To celebrate the similar energies between brands, Empress Vintage, a local vintage boutique located at 1757 Alcatraz Avenue in Berkeley will be hosting a Myth of the West trunk show on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 1pm to 6pm. This debut collection, which can be worn year round features colors such as sand, rust, pistachio, and robin’s egg blue. Our sweaters and accessories are constructed using fibers such as silk, wool and alpaca/ silk blends. Our sweater styles are free size ranging from XS to L and feature well placed cut outs to flatter many different body types. Products are priced for the contemporary market. Headbands, necklaces and scarves offer affordable ways to experience a taste of Myth of the West. All items are made in Oakland California in the designers’ respective studios.  Myth of the West is the brainchild of textile and knitwear designer Leah Chapman and colorist and textile developer Ailee John. Leah studied Textile Design at Rhode Island School of Design and Ailee studied Textile Development and Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After independently moving to Oakland in 2012, they met and quickly found they shared a similar vision. With their complementary skill set, Myth of the West, a hand-knit, hand-dyed clothing and accessory line was born. Myth of the West symbolizes the paradox between the romanticized part of the iconic American West and the reality. It also addresses this topic as an allegory for our current postindustrial Era. Myth of the West is about a return to American made craftsmanship, high quality merchandise and a legendary spirit of determination.  In grateful collaboration with Empress Vintage located at 1757 Alcatraz Avenue, Berkeley CA, Myth of the West is proud to unveil it’s first collection to the public. Join us Saturday, September 20, 2014 1pm to 6pm at Empress Vintage for our 2014 debut trunk show. Light refreshments will be served.
