Join us in the Empress Garden for April's First Tuesday event with music provided by Ruben Diaz, Ismay, & Karlyn Desteno!
Ruben Diaz is a self taught Multi-Instrumentalist Songwriter. Currently residing in Oakland,CA.
Ruben's Style spans most things from discordant effigies to romantic reflection, embracing the raw possibility of the ever adapting Folk Tradition alive in America and the World.
Coming from the coastal hills of Petaluma, California, Ismay represents the creative work of artist and horseback adventurer Avery Hellman. Drawing from bluegrass and old-time music as well as those who live in and write about the West, Ismay emanates from this cultural history with songs of the New American West.
Karlyn DeSteno is a songwriter based in San Francisco. Her distinct alto voice, guitar, songwriting, and storytelling are spare and candid, informed by tradition, getting worn down to essentials. She "deliver[s] from a very profound place" (Cooker John Sagner). Her forthcoming album, "Living House," is due in 2017.
